What you are buying
The grass
A hard-wearing rye-grass dominant lawn mix, grown in Northumberland. It is a family-and-dog lawn rather than a bowling green: it takes being walked on, and it recovers.
Coverage
Each roll is 0.4m by 2.4m and covers just about one square metre. Measure your area in metres and that is your roll count. The calculator adds about 5% for trimming, which also covers the small amount each roll falls short of a full metre.
Cut to order
Nothing sits in a yard. Your turf is cut from the field for your order and delivered the same day it is cut, which is why we need a day from you at checkout.
How it arrives
Rolled, stacked on pallets, 68 rolls to a pallet. A vehicle carries two pallets. Delivery is kerbside or as close to your property as we can safely get.
Lay it quickly
Turf is alive. Lay it the day it arrives if you can, and within 24 hours in warm weather. Left rolled up it yellows fast, and that is not something we can put right afterwards.
Water it in
Water thoroughly as soon as it is down, then keep it damp for the first two to three weeks. Most new lawns that fail, fail because they dried out in week one.
Ground prep
Lift the old lawn, break up and level the soil, and rake it to a fine tilth. If your ground is poor or uneven, add topsoil before laying. We sell that too.
